“The two most powerful warriors are patience and time.”
Leo Tolstoy

With patience and time, almost everything can be accomplished. Similarly, almost every obstacle can be overcome if you are willing to invest the necessary work and time. However, most people struggle with this because they are neither willing to invest time nor do they have the patience to let the fruits of their work come to fruition.

2. It’s all about what we do when we wait

“Patience is not simply the ability to wait – it’s how we behave while we’re waiting.”
Joyce Meyer

Whenever you have to wait for something, see how you behave. Waiting for something can be a great exercise to practice patience.

3. Patience and wisdom go hand-in-hand

“Patience is the companion of wisdom.”
Saint Augustine

No true wisdom can ever be gained by rushing through life. What is required is the patience to stop every once in a while and to reflect upon your life.

4. On meeting important decisions

“Never cut a tree down in the wintertime. Never make a negative decision in the low time. Never make your most important decisions when you are in your worst moods. Wait. Be patient. The storm will pass. The spring will come.”
Robert H. Schuller

In almost all situations, we clearly know that we shouldn’t react instantly. But only those with great patience have the mental strength it takes to delay meeting a decision.

5. On the true meaning of patience

“Patience is waiting. Not passively waiting. That is laziness. But to keep going when the going is hard and slow – that is patience.”
Leo Tolstoy

I think this is a wonderful definition of patience. For one, it helps us to understand that patience is anything but laziness. At the same time, Leo Tolstoy’s definition focuses on the importance of being patient in an active manner.

“I believe that a trusting attitude and a patient attitude go hand in hand. You see, when you let go and learn to trust God, it releases joy in your life. And when you trust God, you’re able to be more patient. Patience is not just about waiting for something… it’s about how you wait, or your attitude while waiting.”
Joyce Meyer

Sadly, most people have a really negative attitude to waiting. They simply cannot stand situations in which they have to wait. At the same time, having to wait every once in a while cannot be avoided. Therefore, all that matters is your attitude to waiting and how you wait.
